SALI’s Farm Sanctuary needs a new home!

Our property has been sold for a condo development. We need your help.

SALI’s Farm is a leading non-profit in BC that utilizes Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI) and Horticulture Therapy Activities (HTA) to affect positive change in our communities. SALI’s Farm is a safe space for healing and education.

We are one of the few farm sanctuaries in the Lower Mainland of this kind and one of a select few in North America.

We believe that kindness makes a world of difference to people, children and animals. SALI’s Farm is an oasis of kindness and empathy as it transports us to a place of wonder and delight amongst animals and nature.

SALI’s Farm provides a permanent home to injured, abused, neglected and discarded animals. Currently we have 24 animals including horses, goats, cows, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, cats. Our volunteers and children in our program provide rehabilitation and care to the animals who in turn offer unconditional love, joy and healing to all.

Meet our Animals

Once upon a time...

There was a yellow lab named Montana who inspired our founder, Keryn Denroche to create SALI.
Keryn experienced the wonderful human/animal bond and it changed her life for the better. Keryn says, “Montana opened up my eyes to an animal full of unconditional love, and how much brighter my world was because of him. I also became aware of the connection between interpersonal violence and animal cruelty. I believe that we are so connected to animals, that in order to help animals, we need to help people and vice versa.”

The magic of the human/animal bond

We are bombarded with stories of animal cruelty, child abuse, violence and crime. And it can all seem too much! Until we step back and look at the roots of violence (lack of empathy) and how easily it can be taught. The greatest thing we can do is help somebody experience kindness and love and know that they are capable of loving. The farm animals at SALI’s Farm provide unconditional love, non-judgement, and acceptance to people who need it the most. Lives are transformed at SALI’s Farm.

10 years later our farm program and farm animals are at-risk

SALI’s Farm is located in South Surrey on 4-acres of leased land. Our beautiful little piece of heaven is smack dab in the middle of the Grandview Height NCP#3 Land Use Plan and will soon become condos! This is, to say the least, challenging with relocating 24 farm animals - many of them quite large!

We need your help!

This is a perfect time to find our new forever home on a larger property (10 acres) and help more people and animals - we call this our Big Furry Goal! The cost of purchasing land is prohibitive and we need your help. We are looking for a donation of land, donation(s) to purchase property, a long term lease, a lease to own, a partnership, equity partnerships or any other idea you may have. We are looking to relocate in Surrey, Delta, Langley or Aldergrove.

Please contact Keryn Denroche for more information or with any idea you may have to help us keryn@sali.ca 604-657-2957

What 10 acres will look like

Our vision is to create a humane and compassionate environment where people, animals and nature come together to improve the emotional and physical well-being of all members of our local community. This vision is embodied in a farm sanctuary which houses often misunderstood animals, a garden to nourish the body and soul, and a forest/natural habitat to teach us how to slow down, breathe deep and quiet the mind.  The combination of these three ingredients has the power to transform an individual's understanding of him/herself and his/her place in the world.

A state-of-the-art, self sustaining facility which will include:

  • programs to serve veterans, first responders, seniors, etc.
  • specially designed habitats for all species
  • a community garden
  • sustain a passionate volunteer team
  • house caretaker and students
  • be accessible to the public
  • an income-producing venture
